Kilimanjaro Education Outreach (KILEO) is a US 501(c)3 non-profit organization who partners with local stakeholders in rural areas of Tanzania to improve quality of life by enhancing community-owned educational infrastructure, teaching HIV prevention classes, and promoting volunteerism.
Volunteers are needed to do the following:
1. Organize and support fundraising events in order to raise funds to ship books, purchase books printed in Tanzania, and to build libraries.
2. Start a university, high school, or sub-chapter of KILEO.
3. 2012 Marangu Library Building Volunteer Program
Volunteers will begin building a library at the Kotela Vocational School located at the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Marangu, Tanzania. The program dates are June 30th to July 30th, 2012. Participants can choose to volunteer from two to four weeks. Volunteers will work on building the library structure, installing book shelves and furniture, and developing educational programs at the library such as English, reading, and math clubs for children and adults.
